Listen to David Nail Radio on iHeartRadio

David Nail says his wife has inspired many of his songs -- but not all of them.

The country star tells CMT his latest single, "Kiss You Tonight" was actually inspired by his first girlfriend.  David admits that he was "a very stubborn individual back then," and this girl made him "realize that sometimes you've gotta go the extra mile."  He adds that there's "something beautiful" and "powerful" about a person's first love.

Nail also confesses that he talks about his first love "all the time," and suspects it probably really annoys his wife, Catherine.  The singer says Catherine has no reason to doubt his love for her, but sometimes he has to remind her that she's the woman he wants to be with for the rest of his life.

Nail has mentioned his wife's influence on his music before.  He's said most of the songs on his latest album, I'm A Fire, were either inspired by Catherine or remind him of her, including his most recent chart-topper "Whatever She's Got."
