Mom Shares Daughter's Final Moments to Show How Devastating Drug Abuse Is

INJOA devastated mother who just lost her daughter to a heroin overdose posted an emotional and private photo to warn families of the danger of the drug.

Forty-nine-year-old Cheryl Towery posted the image of her 22-year-old daughter, Elaina, depicting her on life support, WJBK-TV reports.

The once-beautiful young 22-year-old, with a full life ahead of her, is shown unresponsive, just moments before she was taken off life support and died.

Elaina's last moments before being placed on life support were in the bathroom a Detroit Burger King around 5:30 p.m., Thursday night, WJBK-TV reports.

It was here that Elaina got a bad hit, with the heroin having been laced with fentanyl — a highly potent prescription drug.

For the next four days, Cheryl stood by her daughter at the hospital as she breathed her final breaths.

The heartbroken mother posted this accompanied with the photo:

“She's my only daughter, my best friend. She was supposed to start her new job today, now she's on life support.”

Cheryl noted that Elania had been battling addiction for some time now and, unfortunately for her, she was never able to escape its tight grip.
