Steven Hansmeier
Steven Hansmeier of rural Ogallala died peacefully at Great Plains Health in North Platte on February 12, 2017, at the age of 63.
Steve is survived by his parents Tom and Mary Ann Hansmeier of rural Ogallala; his children Andrew (Lisa) Hansmeier of Elizabeth, CO, Laura Barbee of Ogallala, Heather Hansmeier of Fort Collins, CO, Mia Hilber-Hansmeier of North Platte, Steve’s special companion Marcella Hilber and her daughter Cassandra Bailey, both of North Platte, his sister Sue (John) Hardessen of Kearney, two grandsons, Drue and Asher Barbee of Ogallala and many special friends, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visitation will be Thursday, February 16, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. in Draucker Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be held at 10 am on Friday, February 17th at St. John’s Lutheran Church southeast of Ogallala. A dinner for family and friends will follow. Bobbi Marble
Bobbi “B.J.” Marble, 63, of North Platte passed away February 12, 2017 at Great Plains Health. She was born July 7, 1952 in Arnold, NE to Andy and Doris (Wilson) Morris. B.J. attended school in Ogallala, married Larry Marble and to this union two children were born, Tia Lee and Dustin Robert. She worked at Hokes Café in Ogallala and for several restaurants around the lake. B.J. loved the outdoors, antique shopping, and repurposing items to make lamps. She was a hard working person and was the rock of her family and will be greatly missed. Survivors include her children, Shane Hargrave, Tia Marble of Springfield, MO, and Dustin Marble of North Platte, NE; mother, Doris Mable of North Platte; siblings, Dianna (Rowdy) Rohrick of Chappell, Roxanne (Bruce) Hartzog of Ogallala, Andrea Morris of North Platte, and Stephanie (K.C.) Wright of AZ; grandchildren, Justice, Dominic Andrew, Travion, and Andrew; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Andy Morris; and a brother, Monte Morris. Dana Sweet
DANA A. SWEET, 69 of Ogallala, passed away Saturday, February 11, 2017 at her home. Dana was born October 2, 1947 at Tampa, FL to Dwayne and Dorothy (Baker) Conkey. Dana's father served in the armed forces, and as a result, she and her family made their home in many different places before ending up in San Jose, CA. It was in San Jose where she met and married Michael Sweet. The couple moved to Terrell, TX for six years before making their home in Colorado Springs, CO. Dana worked as a legal secretary there for 11 years before eventually going to work for a publishing firm. In 2001, the couple bought a home in Ogallala, where they'd enjoyed vacationing for many years. In June of 2013, following Michael's retirement from Black Hills Energy, the couple made Ogallala their permanent home. Dana and Michael loved spending time at Lake McConaughy, boating and fishing. They enjoyed the town of Ogallala, and appreciated the warmth they experienced from the community and the wonderful friendships they made with their neighbors. The last 14 years of Dana's life were challenged by a series of health problems, but she continued to live life to the fullest, traveling to visit family and enjoying an occasional trip to the casinos. Dana was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her husband of 38 years, Michael Sweet of Ogallala; son, John Michael (Carey) Sweet; daughter, Tammi Hellen Sweet; 3 grand daughters, D'andrea, Kera and Angelica; 6 great grandchildren, Serena, Carisa, Cariella, Annalucia, Santiago and Lyliah. Gerald Burge
GERALD D. BURGE, 76 of Madrid, passed away Thursday, February 16, 2017 at the Golden Ours Convalescent Home in Grant. Gerald was born May 9, 1940 northeast of Madrid to Glen and LaVene (Jones) Burge. He attended Madrid High School. Following his education Gerald worked on the family farm and assisted other area producers. In January of 1965, Gerald began working for Perkins County in road maintenance. Gerald's career with the county spanned over 45 years. Gerald finally stepped away from farming and road maintenance following heart complications in 2009. Shortly after his retirement, Gerald moved into Madrid for a few years. In 2012, he made his home at Westview in Grant. Most recently, Gerald made his home at Golden Ours Convalescent Home, where he received wonderful care. Gerald was a hard worker, and logged countless hours in the field and on the roads. When the snow would fall, Gerald could be found plowing county roads from sun-up until sun-down, which was just how he liked it. Gerald loved animals, especially dogs. He raised sheep for most of his life, so appreciation for a good Blue Heeler was more than just a passing fancy. In his free time, Gerald enjoyed woodworking and trapping. He had a wonderful rapport with his nieces and nephews, and cherished time spent with them and their families. Gerald also had a special relationship with his mother who took good care of him; and who received wonderful care from Gerald in her own later years. Gerald was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, Ivor Bunting. Survivors include his 4 brothers, Wayne (Nancy) Burge of Grant, Darrell (Rachel) Burge, Dale (Sharon) Burge and Butch (Donna) Burge all of Madrid; sister, JoAnn Bunting of Pleasant Hill, CA; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
