MYRON E. DODSON, 88 of Venango, NE, passed away Monday, March 13, 2017 at Regent Park Nursing & Rehabilitation in Holyoke, CO.

Myron was born September 15, 1928 in Holyoke, CO to Ralph and Hazel (Hopkins) Dodson. He attended country school in Colorado during his first few years of elementary school  before attending in Venango and graduating from Venango High School in 1946.

On December 9, 1948, Myron married Bonnie Ourada at Sterling, CO. The couple made their home in Venango where Myron owned and operated the grocery store. Myron proved to be a successful entrepreneur over the years, purchasing laundromats in both Ogallala and Julesburg in addition to developing a respectable farming operation. He had an uncommon work ethic and ability to balance his many endeavors at once. In the early 1970's Myron stepped away from the grocery store to focus more heavily on farming, which he did until he was 80 years old. As he slowed down in business, Myron became even more active in his church. He was an ardent supporter of Gideons International, and worked hard to aid in their cause of spreading God's Word.

Myron was blessed with a wealth of varying experiences in life, but he enjoyed family and farming the most. As well as fishing and occasional water skiing, he also enjoyed having his pilot's license, which came in handy on many occasions when trying to obtain replacement parts quickly for his washers and dryers at the laundromats. Regardless of what Myron set out to accomplish his industriousness always served him well, but never got in the way of passing his love for God to the generations that follow.

Myron was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Brent Dodson; and sister, Norma Jean McCormick.

Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Bonnie Dodson of Venango; daughter, Sharon (Jack)  Johnson of Greenville, SC; son, Scott (Patty) Dodson of Norfolk; 5 grandchildren, Kendra (Wayne) Dennis, Jared Johnson, Joshua (Ruth) Dodson, Christina (Zach) Bridgman, Tricia (Riley) Friesen; 7 great grandchildren, Brandon, Barrett, Blake, Aidan, Charity, Corban and Josephine; brother, Merwin (JoAnn) Dodson of Venango; brother-in-law, Pike McCormick of Lewellen; along with many other relatives and friends.

Memorials are suggested to the Venango Community Church in Myron's memory. Condolences can be shared at bullocklongfuneralhome.com, where the service will be streamed live for those unable to attend.

Services will be Saturday, March 18, 2017 at 10am at the Venango Community Church in Venango, NE with Pastor Chris Costrini officiating. Burial will be in the Venango Cemetery.

Edwin had been involved in farming and agriculture his entire life, and loved nothing more than being involved in the family farm.

Edwin was a longtime member of the Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church in Grant and was both a charter and 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus Hi-Line Council #778. Edwin loved to farm.  He was a Farm Bureau Board Member for over 20 years, and was a wonderful steward of the land and animals. Edwin served as the keeper and caretaker of countless dogs, cats, pigs and other various animals over the years. He also thoroughly enjoyed the experience of buying and selling cattle. Edwin was a collector of many different things, including die cast toys, belt buckles, coins, and hats, just to name a few. It wasn't uncommon to find Edwin at the auctions, enjoying the company of friends and perusing the items in search of his next collectable. Perhaps most notably, Edwin was a man of family.  Krajewski family gatherings weren't complete without gathering around the table for story-telling and a game of Pitch. Edwin enjoyed being a part of a large family his entire life, with some of his most cherished memories being made alongside his children and grandchildren.

Edwin was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter Maya Bibins, and Brother in Law Dwight Beckman.

                                                            Gabriel Baptiste

GABRIEL JOSEPH BAPTISTE JR., 64 of Ogallala, NE, passed away Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at Great Plains Health in North Platte, NE.

Gabe was born in New Brunswick, New Jersey on October 16, 1952 to Gabriel Joseph and Julia Rose (Chesney) Baptiste. At age 5, he and his family moved to Venezuela where his passion for music and electronics were soon evident. There was no musical instrument he couldn't master (especially air-guitar, knee-drum and dashboard keyboard). He attended The Abbey School in  Tunapuna, Trinidad. He earned his business degree from Benedictine College in Atchison Kansas, thus starting his life-long love of the mid-west. He became Program Director for KIBZ The Blaze and loved being on the radio.

His abilities to increase ratings and listenership were proven in multiple markets. This expertise, coupled with his bi-lingual abilities, opened the door to him launching South American television markets including MTV Latino and Telemundo and pioneering innovative technologies while in South Florida. He was called to Los Angeles where he was involved in multiple TV and radio production projects. His final career episode was here in Ogallala where in early 2015 he came to work for RCS doing bi-lingual tech support and creating marketing videos.

As for Gabe the man, he was intelligent, thoughtful, generous, mischievous, optimistic, humorous, loyal and always humble. He was a friend to all who met him, an artful listener and always made time for friends in need. His storytelling was legendary and his positive energy lit up whatever room he entered. He was a true gentle giant. His departure has left a deep void in the hearts of his friends and his family who adored him.

Gabe was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his two siblings Bibi Baptiste Pey, of Sydney Australia and Richard Baptiste of Vero Beach, Florida.

A memorial has been established in his memory. Condolences can be shared online at prairiehillsfuneralhome.com.

No services are planned at this time.

Prairie Hills Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
