Collin Alexander Penrod, 18, of Grant, NE, passed away Saturday, July 1, 2017.  A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, July 8, 2017 at 10:30 am at the South Platte High School in Big Springs, NE with Reverend Chuck Rager officiating.  Memorials can be made in Collin’s name in lieu of flowers to the South Platte School Athletic Fund c/o Austin-Tennant Funeral Home PO Box 24, Julesburg, CO 80737.  Austin-Tennant Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.  


Kay McClung         

Kay McClung, 77, longtime Big Springs resident, died Sunday, July 2, 2017, in Great Plains Health in North Platte. 

Survivors include her husband Calvin and two sons: Steve (Kristi) McClung and Michael (Deborah) McClung, all of Big Springs; a daughter DeAnn (Jeff) Beck of Elwood; three sisters: Lorna Evelyn of Kimball, Pat (Rex) Wilson of Grant, and Barbara (Jim) Hixon of Big Springs; and five grandchildren:  Kailin and Stephanie, Timothy and Mathew, all of Big Springs and Marissa of Elwood.   

Visitation will be Thursday, July 6, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. in Draucker Funeral Home.   

The Funeral Service will be Friday, July 7, at 10 a.m. in the Big Springs United Methodist Church.  Rev. Chuck Rager will officiate.  The Service will be live streamed from drauckerfuneralhome.com, for those unable to attend.

Mary McCall, AGE   80                     OF   Chappell, Nebraska                PASSED AWAY AT  Sidney Regional Medical Center, Extended Care in Sidney, Nebraska                       ON  Monday afternoon, July 3, 2017. SURVIVORS INCLUDE:   two children:  Mark and wife Deb McCall of Gering, NE and Patty and husband Tony Olson of Cheyenne, WY; four grandchildren:  T.J., Andy and Brett McCall and Curtis Olson; and two sisters:  Donna Little of Illinois and Millie Eichelberger of Missouri. Charlene Eichner

CHARLENE MARY EICHNER, 58, of Ogallala passed away peacefully Saturday July 8, 2017 at her home in the loving arms of her family after a courageous battle with cancer.  Charlene was born August 28, 1958 in Detroit, Michigan to John and Catherine "Pat" (Carpenter) Tokarski. She graduated from East Detroit High School. Charlene was preceded in death by her father; brother, Tony; brothers-in-law, Raymond Basgall & Mark Cote'. Survivors include her husband, Darrol Eichner of Ogallala; son, Steven Eichner of Lincoln; mother, Pat Tokarski of East Point, MI; sisters, Christine Basgall of Longmont, CO, Karen (Larry) Lemke of Grand Blanc, MI, Kelly Cote' of East Point, MI, Donna (Jeff) Bell of Naples, FL; brother, John (Soon) Tokarski of Golden, CO; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society in Charlene's memory. Joan Johnson

Joan "Jo" Johnson, 86, of Lemoyne,  peacefully passed away in her home on July 7, 2017.    She leaves behind her daughters Debby and Tina and her son Robert, nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.A Celebration of Life will be held at the Lemoyne Senior Center on Saturday, July 15, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.  Friends are invited to come and share stories and a dish for a pot luck luncheon. Carol Morrell

Carol  Morrell, 67, longtime resident of Arthur, died Sunday, July 2, 2017, in Indian Hills Manor of Ogallala.Survivors include her husband Andy of Arthur, her younger brother Ben Myhre, and her step-children Shane (Shannon) Morrell, Brandi Morrell Graves, and Denelle (Wade) Fischer; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Cremation was chosen. The Memorial Service will be Saturday, July 15, at 11 a.m. in the Church of Jesus  Christ of Latter Day Saints, located in Whitman, Nebr., on  Highway 2, near mile marker 158.  Barry Oats will conduct the service.  All friends and family are welcome to attend the service and a luncheon following the service.   Inurnment will take place at a later date.  A memorial has been established to the American Diabetes Foundation.  Draucker Funeral Home of Ogallala is entrusted with the arrangements.

DORIS A. MCCLENAHAN, 100 of Grant, passed away Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at Golden Ours Convalescent Home in Grant. A memorial has been established in her memory. Abelardo Hinojosa Sr., a longtime resident of Imperial, passed away Wednesday morning, July 12, 2017 from the results of an accident.  He was 51 years of age. Survivors include: Mother, Minerva Hinojosa of San Benito, TX Son, Abelardo Hinojosa Jr. and wife, Elisha of Imperial Son, Nathan Hinojosa and wife, Alysha of Imperial Son, Aaron Eli Hinojosa of Imperial Step-daughter, Laura Lee Co and husband, Luis of Imperial 6 Grandsons Sister, Janie Hinojosa Sister, Julie Benavidez and husband, Manuel Brother, Israel Hinojosa Jr. and wife, Martha Brother, Javier Hinojosa and wife, Norma Sister, Maria Hinojosa  Brother, Juan Hinojosa A Rosary will be recited for Abelardo Hinojosa Sr. on Sunday evening, July 16th, 2017 beginning at 7:00 P.M. Bonna J.  Cerny, 86, of Arthur, died July 18, 2017, in Indian Hills Healthcare of Ogallala.Survivors include four sons: Terry, Rex (Carolyn), and Ray Gene, all of Arthur  and Joe (Janet) of Oklahoma City, OK. a sister Edith Stienhauser of Stuart and a brother Jim Johnson of Grand Island; thirteen grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.  Visitation will be Sunday, July 23, from 1 to 5 p.m. in Draucker Funeral Home.The Funeral Service will be Monday, July 24, at 2 p.m. in the Arthur Baptist Church.  Rev. Tyler Knaub

TYLER KNAUB, 28 of Las Vegas, NV, passed away Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at Las Vegas, NV.   Tyler was born March 11, 1989 in Aurora, Colorado to Scott and Jodie (Casavant) Knaub. He graduated from Ogallala High School with the class of 2007. Following 7 years of service Tyler received an honorable discharge, and made his home in Las Vegas, NV. Despite earning an impressive service record, the rigors of conflict left an indelible impression on Tyler. In the coming years he attended UNLV seeking a career in entertainment engineering. In 2012, Tyler's life took on new meaning, when he was blessed with a son, Nova Knaub. Despite the apparent trappings of success that he'd enjoyed throughout much of his life, Tyler struggled with the symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Deteriorating relationships and his struggle with PTSD ultimately resulted in a tragedy that has left family and friends in a state of despair and sorrow. The depth of this pain and loss can only be healed by the grace of Jesus. May His comfort be known and felt by all who are hurting.   Tyler was preceded in death by his son, Nova; grandpa, Gary Knaub; 2 uncles, Spencer "Duke" Knaub & Casey "Rooster" Casavant; & brother-in-law, Tyrell Anderson. Left to mourn his passing include his father, Scott (Mary) Knaub of Ogallala; mother, Jodie (Tom Cook) Casavant of Cascade, MT; sister, Whitney (Miall) Newcomb of FL; half siblings, Jensen Knaub & Carter Casavant both of Cascade, MT; step-siblings, Barry (Amber) Melvin of Scottsbluff, Sherry (Dustin) Towell of Ogallala; grandma, Marilynn Knaub of Ogallala; grandparents, Dick (Carol) Casavant and Barb (Steve) Parsons; aunt, Shelly Knaub of Crete; along with many other relatives and friends. Michael "Mike" Lietz, 63, of Brule, died July 28, 2017, in his home.Survivors include two brothers: Clarence (wife Diane) and Robert (wife Julie); two sisters: Gloria (husb. Rich) and Rebecca (husb. Edward J. Katherine “Kathy” Percifield, a longtime resident of Chase County, passed away on July 17, 2017 at the Imperial Manor Nursing Home.  She was 70 years of age. She is survived by daughter Diane and husband Rayburn Bischoff of Imperial, son Danny and wife Rhonda Percifield of Lubbock, TX. She is also survived by her six grandchildren April Percifield of Cheyenne, WY, Nicole Benson and husband Aaron of Casper, WY, Bryan Bischoff of Imperial, NE, Rachel Bischoff of Imperial, NE, Carley Percifield of Oklahoma City, OK, Crystal McCellan of Vancouver, WA and sister-in-law Dorothy Bechdolt of Omaha, NE.  Kathy will be missed by many loving friends and extended family. Memorial services for Kathy Percifield will be 10:30 A.M. (MT), Saturday morning, August 12, 2017 at the Champion Community Building in Champion, Nebraska with Mr. Kent Swink officiating.  Inurnment will immediately follow services in the Crete Cemetery in Rural Champion, Nebraska.
